To help you plan your next shoot, our favorite microstock has provided a list of content that buyers will be looking for during the next two autumn months according to the analytics service data.

I already mentioned trend analytics for content preparation from Shutterstock. In principle, these recommendations are quite relevant for other stocks as well.

So, now focus on photography or creating images on topics like women’s health, Usabry*, home decoration, and celebrations like Halloween and Diwali**.

Women’s health in stock content

• All aspects of women’s health, including breastfeeding, fertility/infertility, IVF, and menopause;
• Medical tools related to cancer, as well as mothers with this condition;
• Mammograms and women undergoing mammography;
• Cosmetic procedures, including rhinoplasty, Botox, hyaluronic acid injections, teeth correction, eyelash extensions, and laser hair removal;
• Concepts depicting new technologies in healthcare, such as people using laptops, tablets, or phones to schedule doctor’s appointments.

Please don’t forget about preparing a model and/or property release, which are required if the image contains recognizable objects or faces.

Usabry and prop photos in stock images

• By the beginning of Usabry, an event lasting a month in which participants grow mustaches, the demand for images of mustaches and other facial hair will rise;
• People of all ages collect money, celebrate, and just have fun;
• Men’s health, including prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health;
• Photos of props for celebrating weddings, birthdays, and other holidays;
• Illustrations of accessories such as hats, glasses, masks, crowns, as well as lips and mustaches;
• Short humorous phrases that can also be used as props.

Please remember about property and model releases if faces or recognizable objects appear in the frame.

Home improvements in stock trends for autumn

• Major renovations and remodeling, including before-and-after shots;
• Carpet cleaning, including before-and-after photos, people using professional equipment, stain removal, and more;
• People conducting home inspections, as well as professionals in workwear with tools and notebooks, etc.;
• Interior and exterior shots of people at home inspections, including shots of professionals inspecting floors, walls, plumbing, electrical wiring, and appliances.

Remember, model and property releases are required for anything recognizable. Property releases are needed for both exteriors and interiors.

Diwali and Halloween are popular in autumn search trends

• Families celebrating Diwali at home;
• Elements of Diwali celebration, including food (samosas, crackers) and associated imagery (goddess Lakshmi, lanterns, fireworks, rupees);
• Illustrations for promotional materials for Diwali sales;
• Other holidays celebrated during Diwali, such as Bhai Dooj, Dhanteras, and Karva Chauth;
• Halloween and other October celebrations observed both in the U.S. and worldwide, such as the Day of the Dead;
• Children and animals dressed for Halloween celebrations;
• Illustrations used for Halloween invitations and sales promotions, including fonts and borders.
