How to Add Keywords to File Info in Photoshop?

0

This is a tip for those using older versions of Photoshop. The Photoshop version I use doesn’t allow copying and pasting information in “File Info,” so I would have to re-enter keywords for each new image in the “File Info” window.

Today, I want to share a method that allows you to add multiple keywords to “File Info” without typing them manually.

You can create an “Action” in Photoshop to add information to “File Info” more quickly and easily than just typing. I created an “Action” that adds about 50 generated keywords to “File Info” for each file.

Afterward, I return to “File Info” to remove any keywords that don’t fit the description of the specific image and then add any necessary keywords.

(Editor’s Note: Remember, keyword spamming is not allowed. Please be careful when adding keywords).

Although this technique still requires some manual work, it can save you quite a bit of time, which you can then use for stock photo tasks or other pressing matters. This small trick has saved me hours of repeatedly typing the same keywords.

Click on “Actions” to open the operations menu.

Click the “Create New Action” button. This will open a new action dialog box.

Enter a name for your action.

Click the “Record” button.

Execute the command by entering keywords: go to the “File” menu, then select “File Info” from the dropdown, and enter your list of keywords. You can also immediately add a description of the image and indicate your authorship. Then, click “OK.”

How to Run an Action?

Open the image file in Photoshop.

Click “Window” and select “Actions” from the dropdown menu.

Find and select your “Action” in the Actions window.

Click the “Play” button, and Photoshop will add the keywords you entered earlier to the document’s information.

Click “File,” then “File Info,” to see the keywords in the document’s info section.

Click the keywords field.

Remove any unnecessary keywords and add those needed to describe the specific image.

Once an “Action” is recorded, running it takes just a few seconds. This method is very effective when uploading series of similar works.

For those with non-English Photoshop versions:
“Action” – операция;
“File Info” – сведения о файле;
“Window” – окно;
“Create New Action” – создать новую операцию;
“Record” – записать;
“File Info” – файл;
“Stop” – остановить;
“Play” – запустить:
