To help you plan your upcoming shoots, the Shutterstock team has prepared a list of the most popular search queries from stock bank buyers for the next couple of months (with a focus on October).

In the near future, priority will be given to themes such as schools, shopping, holiday decor, and parties, as well as active winter recreation and winter ambiance (Winter is coming!).

  • Images for Thanksgiving reflecting kindness, gratitude, and family holiday dinners;
  • Alcoholic beverages like champagne, whiskey, or mulled wine;
  • Christmas decorations such as tinsel, mistletoe, garlands, confetti, and tinsel;
  • Christmas parties, particularly the ugliest Christmas sweater party or Secret Santa surprises;
  • Silver and gold decorations like confetti, tinsel, and glitter;
  • Beautifully set and thematically decorated tables and festive layouts. For example: a Christmas poinsettia (poinsettia or euphorbia pulcherrima – a plant that blooms at Christmas) or a cornucopia for Thanksgiving;
  • Menus, festive packaging, invitations, and fonts.

Please remember that model and property releases are needed for all recognizable people and places.

Shopping Sales in October

Sales, Girls Going Shopping

  • For Black Friday, images of shoppers sifting through discounted items are needed;
  • For Cyber Monday, take photos depicting the online shopping process, including people paying with credit cards;
  • Vector images that can be used for various posters, coupons, and flyers for autumn sales;
  • Searching for and purchasing gifts for colleagues, friends, and family.

Please remember the necessity of filling out property and model releases for anything or anyone recognizable.

Winter Wonderland on Stock

Winter Wonderland

  • Falling snow, macro shots of snow and snowflakes;
  • Winter sports and activities such as sledding, skiing, snowboarding, and skating;
  • Winter animals or animals closely associated with winter. For example, penguins, reindeer, polar bears, and walruses;
  • People enjoying winter drinks (for example, hot cocoa or mulled wine) outdoors and at home;
  • People rejoice over festive lights, indoors and outdoors, with friends and loved ones.

Please remember the releases needed for everyone and everything that might be recognized.

School and Education in October on Stock

School, Drawing Lesson

  • Items necessary for education, such as blackboards, podiums, and office supplies;
  • Team sports competitions in sports like basketball, badminton, hockey, and football;
  • Images illustrating award ceremonies for winners, such as trophy and medal presentations;
  • Office supplies and craft supplies like scissors, rulers, collages, watercolors, and oil paints;
  • Celebrations of graduates, including diploma and award ceremonies.
