New work review system on Bigstock

Recently, the photo bank Bigstock sent a letter to its authors regarding upcoming changes in the review and approval process. The letter was in English, and not everyone may have understood or paid attention to its content. Here is its translation:

image review system on Bigstock

In the near future, we are planning to update the tools we use for reviewing works submitted to Bigstock. With these new tools, we will be able to provide clearer feedback, and they will also allow for more efficient review of images submitted for consideration.

As a result of these changes, the function of “Return to User” will no longer be available for returning images. Images that lack information in the description, releases, and other documentation will need to be uploaded again with corrected descriptions and appropriate supporting documents.

Materials that lack data, releases, or other necessary information will not be published. To have them reviewed, you will need to re-upload and submit them for review again.

The second change is that Bigstock will no longer accept PDF files for releases, supporting documentation, or original images. Any PDFs that were previously uploaded and saved to your account will be rejected during the review process when new uploads are added.

You will need to re-upload all existing PDF files in JPG format.

5 tips for successful uploads to Bigstock:

1. Focus on accurately filling out the description data

Ensure a precise title, appropriate keywords, and relevant categories. This is necessary for your works to find their buyers. For more detailed information about our standards in descriptions, refer to the Content Submission Guidelines.

2. Mark editorial content

Make sure to check the “Editorial Usage” checkbox when submitting material for editorial use. Provide proper titles containing all information (location and date of shooting) in the description.

Want to know more about editorial images? Check out the “All About Editorial Images” section in our support center.

3. Choose the appropriate category for illustrations

When submitting illustrations in jpg, 3D, or vector formats for review, always select the “Art-Illustration” category. If you do not do this, your work will not be reviewed and approved.

Additionally, if you used a hand-drawn image to create the illustration, the JPG of that image should be uploaded as a release in the “Manage Releases” section of your account.

4. Upload releases when necessary

Any images of recognizable individuals or other identifiable parts (faces, parts of faces, scars, tattoos) must be accompanied by model releases for adults or minors (Adult or Minor model release). Photos of private property must be uploaded with property releases signed by the owners.

Make sure that the releases are fully filled out and upload them in JPG format. For more information, visit the Model and Property Releases section in our support center.

5. Don’t forget to upload your credentials

Upload documents proving that you are an accredited photographer at the event in the releases management section of your account. Select “Credential” from the file type dropdown menu.

Not sure if you need to verify your identity? Check the details in the Identity Verification Guidelines on our website.

Thank you for remaining an active part of the Bigstock community. By updating our systems and tools, we continue to improve for you and our buyers.

For more detailed information on how to ensure that your files will be approved, please visit our Support Center or write to support@bigstockphoto.com.

Thank you!

Oh, I apologize, I confused it with Dreamstime 🙂
But I generally do not indicate that it is “Art Illustrations/Art-Illustration,” I choose 2 free categories for the image topic. That’s all.

Regarding item No. 3 – I always specified not “Art Illustrations/Art-Illustration,” but “Art Illustrations/Vector,” based on Shutterstock’s classification: editable vector EPS is Vector, and a raster copy of a vector image is Illustration.
Now is everything “/Art-Illustration”? Or should I also label Vector, leaving only 1 free category for the theme of the illustration?

I can’t understand the essence of this notification. What does it mean for stockers?

Well, I’ll just quote from Zastavkin: “In short, they won’t return files for re-editing that didn’t pass the review (you have to upload them again). And secondly, releases and references are now only in JPEG format! PDF is out.”
