New Review System for Submissions on Bigstock

4

Recently, stock agency Bigstock sent contributors an email about upcoming changes to the process of reviewing and approving submissions, containing the following information. The email was in English, and not everyone may have understood or paid attention to its content. Here is the translation:

image review system on Bigstock

In the near future, we plan to update the tools we use to review submissions uploaded to Bigstock. With these new tools, we will be able to provide clearer feedback, and they will also allow us to conduct a more efficient review of images submitted for consideration.

As a result of these changes, it will no longer be possible to return images using the “Return to User” function. Any images missing description data, releases, or other required information must be uploaded again with a corrected description and the appropriate accompanying documents.

Files missing required data, releases, or other elements will not be published. To have them reviewed, you will need to re-upload and resubmit them.

The second change is that Bigstock will no longer accept PDF files for releases, supporting documentation, or original images. Any PDFs that were previously uploaded and saved in your account will be rejected during the review process when adding new submissions.

You will need to re-upload all existing PDF files in JPG format.

5 Tips for Successful Uploads to Bigstock:

1. Focus on accurate metadata

Provide an exact title, relevant keywords, and appropriate categories. This is essential for your work to be found by buyers. For more detailed information about our description standards, see the Content Submission Guidelines.

2. Mark editorial content

Make sure you select the “Editorial Usage” checkbox when submitting material intended for editorial use. Provide proper titles containing all required data (location and shot date) in the description.

Want to know more about editorial images? See the “All About Editorial Images” section in our Support Center.

3. Choose the correct category for illustrations

When submitting illustrations in JPG, 3D, or vector format, always choose the “Art-Illustration” category. If you fail to do so, your work will not be reviewed and approved.

Additionally, if you used a hand-drawn image to create your illustration, the JPG of that image must be uploaded as a release in the “Manage Releases” section of your account.

4. Upload releases when required

Any images of recognizable people or other identifiable body parts (faces, facial features, scars, tattoos) must be accompanied by an Adult or Minor model release. Photos of private property must be submitted with property releases signed by the owners.

Ensure that releases are fully completed and upload them in JPG format. For more information, visit the Model and Property Releases section in our Support Center.

5. Don’t forget to upload your credentials

Upload documents proving that you are an accredited photographer at an event in the releases management section of your account. Select “Credential” from the file type dropdown menu.

Not sure whether you need to verify your identity? See the details in the Identity Verification Guidelines on our website.

Thank you for being an active part of the Bigstock community. By updating our system and tools, we continue to improve for you and our buyers.

Oh, I apologize, I confused it with Dreamstime 🙂
But I generally do not indicate that it is “Art Illustrations/Art-Illustration,” I choose 2 free categories for the image topic. That’s all.

Regarding item No. 3 – I always specified not “Art Illustrations/Art-Illustration,” but “Art Illustrations/Vector,” based on Shutterstock’s classification: editable vector EPS is Vector, and a raster copy of a vector image is Illustration.
Now is everything “/Art-Illustration”? Or should I also label Vector, leaving only 1 free category for the theme of the illustration?

I can’t understand the essence of this notification. What does it mean for stockers?

Well, I’ll just quote from Zastavkin: “In short, they won’t return files for re-editing that didn’t pass the review (you have to upload them again). And secondly, releases and references are now only in JPEG format! PDF is out.”
