Registration on Fotolia

Stock bank Fotolia is quite easy to use and is recommended for beginners. Because of this, I receive a lot of questions from novice microstockers regarding the registration process on Fotolia: what data to enter, what each point means, why the circle is not green, why the registration is not complete, and so on. In today’s article, I decided to cover the registration process on Fotolia as broadly as possible.
First of all, you need to visit the Fotolia website by clicking on the banner of this stock bank in the right column. Then click the SIGN UP button:

On the next page of the stock bank, you need to enter the initial data for registration on Fotolia:

• Login – choose a unique name for logging into the Fotolia site.
• Password – enter your password here. Try to use combinations of numbers, letters, and different cases. Do not use your login in the password. The desired password length is at least 8 characters.
• Confirm password – repeat the password here.
• Agree to the terms (Terms and Conditions) by checking the box at the bottom of the page and proceed by clicking the CONTINUE button.

On the next page, you will need to fill out the registration form for the stock bank. It includes the following fields:

1) Your name:
Title – here you must indicate how you should be addressed based on your gender: Mr. – for men, Ms. – for women.
First name – enter your first name in Latin letters.
Last name – enter your last name in Latin letters. Don’t forget that your last name and first name must correspond to the data on your document (passport or driver’s license) in English, which you will need to upload to the stock bank Fotolia later.

2) Email – enter your email address. I advise using foreign servers like gmail.com or yahoo.com for this, as sometimes confirmation emails do not reach .ru addresses, and consequently, you won’t be able to complete the registration process.

3) Account type – choose your account type: personal or company. You must choose Personal account.

4) Company – if the account type is Personal account, this field can be left blank.

5) Address – enter your mailing address (street, house, apartment) in Latin letters.

6) City – enter the name of your city.

7) State/Province – state/province. You can enter your region or just write the name of the city again.

8 ) Zip/Postal code – enter your postal code in this field.

9) Country – country of residence. You must choose from the dropdown list. Don’t make a mistake.

10) Telephone – enter your contact phone number here. I want to draw your attention to the fact that although it is stated that the number is not required and is only needed for photographers, without a phone number, Fotolia will not activate your account, so be sure to provide any number. No one will call you anyway.

11) Now you need to check (tick) the options offered to you:
I want to receive the Fotolia newsletter – if you want to receive news from Fotolia, you can check this box.
I want to receive information from Fotolia partners – indicate if you want to receive news from Fotolia partners.
How did you hear about us? – how did you find out about the Fotolia stock bank? Choose the last point in the list Other, specify below: and specify the phrase “from designer № 201445074” below.
Alias – here you specify a name (pseudonym) that will be displayed instead of your real name when buyers view your works on Fotolia.
I would like to be notified for image sales – you can check this box if you want to receive an email every time an image or illustration purchase occurs on Fotolia (recommended).
I would like to be notified for image selection – you can check this box to receive notifications from Fotolia regarding the review results of your works by inspectors (recommended, very useful).
Add my exclusive images in the Fotolia subscription program – question regarding permission to sell your exclusive photos via subscription. Skip this, as it is initially strongly advised against sending exclusive works to stock banks.
I accept to be a Fotolia total exclusive contributor and I accept… – proposal to become an exclusive author for the Fotolia stock bank. This means that you cannot sell your photos and images anywhere else. DO NOT AGREE!

Next, click the Submit button.

We simply skip the third page by clicking the Skip button.

So, registration on the Fotolia stock bank is almost complete. Now, wait to receive an email from the Fotolia microstock to the specified email address with a link to confirm your account on the stock bank.

Within 1-3 days, your registration will be checked, and your status on Fotolia will become active, confirmed by the appearance of a green circle next to the word State green circle (Validated).

Only after the green circle appears can you be sure that everything is in order and you can submit your works for review by Fotolia inspectors.

While your account is not confirmed, you will see a yellow circle, and uploading works is not recommended yet.

If you did not receive the email with the activation link for your Fotolia account, please submit a request to Fotolia support or try changing your email, as there may be some filters at play.

As you can see, registration at the Fotolia stock bank is quite simple and understandable; you just need to carefully fill in all the required fields and remember to activate your account.
