Single Sales on Shutterstock

1

On the stock photo site Shutterstock, a new sales type (rate) has been introduced, described in the news published on September 28. What does this product entail? The following text is a translation of this news.
We are excited to share information about the new product for single image sales that we created in response to customer requests, which we believe will help Shutterstock authors earn more on the stock photo site. Currently, we are testing this product.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • This is the first time we are offering customers in certain markets the option to purchase one image at a time;
  • Our current subscription plans and payout rates will not be affected by this new single sales feature;
  • We are using a percentage payout model for this new type of single sale under the standard license. In the future, we will test and/or launch single sales under other types of licenses. This will allow us to tailor offers that are most advantageous for authors.

Details of the New Product

According to the new prices for purchasing single images that we are testing, buyers can purchase any image from Shutterstock under the standard license at a fixed price. We developed this product to attract new customers who are not currently making purchases on Shutterstock.

Payouts for these single purchases will range from 20% to 30% depending on your total earnings on Shutterstock throughout your time working with us. We designed them to be as close as possible to the payouts you currently receive for On Demand sales.

You will be able to see new sales in the statistics, in the earnings table on the “Download Statistics” page under the column “Single & Other Downloads.”

Below are the Shutterstock commission rates:

These commission rates apply to our new product and any other products in the future that we test or introduce, unless we create a new category of rates to support new products.

For more detailed information, please refer to our commission rates.

These changes have been launched to better serve our customers and increase the sales of your images. As always, thank you for being a part of the Shutterstock community.
