Depositphotos Free Bonus Finish
1
After all the anticipation, it has finally happened. The free bonus program at DP (Depositphotos) has ended. The stock bank Depositphotos officially discontinued its program to incentivize stock photographers on April 1, 2010.
Why did this happen?
This shutdown is quite logical, as according to the information posted on the stock bank, the volume of the stock photo and illustration database has already exceeded 1 million works.
Believe it or not, DP built its database in just four months. For a clearer comparison, I can remind you that the volume of the database at SS is 10 million. However, the quality of DP’s database isn’t ideal, as they initially accepted all submissions, which led to a lot of low-quality content.
I’m glad to have collected all the bonuses from DP’s incentive program.
So what will happen now with the DP stock bank? As far as I can imagine, the focus will now be on attracting new buyers and various incentives for them. Otherwise, it will be difficult for the stock bank to achieve an increase in its database from the current level. Because the current sales at DP are struggling.
tock photographers will likely be less inclined to update their portfolios on DP compared to before. Although there is some increase in sales at DP, it’s happening very slowly.
In the first half of March, the average sales volume at DP was around 500 per day. Agreed, for a stock bank with a database of 1 million works, this is quite low. Moreover, it is unknown how many of these sales were real, and not test sales from DP itself. It’s difficult to assess sales volume now, as DP no longer displays sales data.
In general, I believe that working with the DP stock bank can certainly be tried, but it shouldn’t be placed as a top priority among stock banks for now. Otherwise, from time to time, you can update your portfolio.
Who knows, the buyer incentive policy at DP might turn out to be successful, sales at the stock bank may pick up, and stock photographers might eventually consider DP among the top stock photo sites for earning.
