The Shutterstock team takes the success of its Contributors very seriously. In a new series of short essays from the inspector team, they will periodically share quick ideas and tips on how to become the best authors on SS – knowledge drawn from their everyday experience working with thousands of our submissions. Below, you can read their first observation.

Shutterstock Inspector on 100% Image Zoom

When preparing an image for submission to Shutterstock inspectors, it’s very helpful to ensure that you view the entire image at 100% zoom. At this zoom level, all technical flaws will be clearly visible.

Scroll through the image from corner to corner. Visually scan each segment of the image for technical flaws – dust on the lens, scanning scratches, chromatic aberrations, noise, blurriness, sharpness, and more.

The reason for this scrutiny at high magnification is that stock inspectors take our artistic vision very seriously, and your image will be offered to buyers in a variety of sizes.

The stock team conducts this selection because each image must look perfect, regardless of how it will be used by buyers.

It’s crucial for the image to be free of visual defects at 100% zoom since inspectors conduct such visual assessments after upload to the stock.

If you take your time and thoroughly check your photos, your inspectors (and buyers on Shutterstock) will be very grateful to you.
