Important news for Zoonar contributors

2

It is always important to stay informed about the news regarding microstocks for earning that you collaborate with, such as Zoonar. Usually, stocks notify about all new updates through their newsletters. However, these newsletters are typically in English, and many either cannot understand their essence or simply do not take the time to read them.

Not long ago, the microstock Zoonar sent an email to its contributors with quite interesting information. I made a translation of this letter:

News for Zoonar microstock contributors

Dear contributor,

We have important news for you:

1. We are pleased to introduce our new image sales partner – Getty Images. Currently, you can upload images for sale through the stock only those that do not require releases (model or property releases).

By mid-2012, we plan to offer you a new tool for releases, which will allow the upload of works that require a release. Getty Images is a large company that can ensure a very high level of sales through its platforms – Jupiterimages and Thinkstock, which motivates many photographers to sell their works through Getty.

We are eagerly looking forward to how many works from our contributors will be accepted by Getty Images. So far, we do not know their requirements due to the lack of experience in such collaboration, but we hope that most of your photos will be accepted. However, it is important to note that there are requirements stating that photos should not be sold on stocks such as Veer or Corbis.

2. We are also pleased to announce the number of works accepted by our partnership system. Due to the high revenue generated by Getty, AGE, DPP Fotofinder, and other partners, we are receiving more and more images than a few months ago. Unfortunately, our costs for keyword selection, checking, translation, cataloging, and removal of works have also significantly increased.

To maintain and further expand our partnership system, we are compelled to reduce the commission rate from 60% to 50%. Accordingly, we are changing our terms and conditions of collaboration with contributors starting from June 1, 2012. From this date, the commission from the sale of your works through our partner network will be 50%. Commissions from sales of images directly through Zoonar will remain at the previous level and will be up to 80%.

Due to changes in the terms of the contract with contributors effective June 1, 2012, you have the special right to terminate your contract with us within 4 weeks from the date of receiving this letter. If you do not wish to sell your works through our partner network and want to remove your images from partner resources, please write to us at email: info@zoonar.com, specifying your username and the names of the partner stocks where you do not wish to sell your works. This must be done by April 30, 2012.

We sincerely hope for your understanding once again and assure you that all excess funds received will be invested in expanding our partner network and increasing the sales of your works.

Sincerely,
your Zoonar team

Well, I don’t know – I have about 300 works on Zoonar, but so far 0 sales…

I’m getting some payments here and there.
